The Jade Buddha for Universal Peace Arriving in Garland, TX
DALLAS, TX (AsiaWorldMedia.com) – The majestic 4.5 tons Jade Buddha for Universal Peace is being exhibited around the world before it is permanently rested at the Great Stupa of Universal Compassion in Bendigo, Australia. The Jade Buddha has a valued of approximately $5 million but to most who witness the magnificent statue, it is priceless. The brilliant emerald-green Jade Buddha is currently on display at Tinh Xa Ngoc Nhien Buddhist Temple, 210 Katy Street in Garland, TX, and will be touring across the U.S. throughout 2014, including Phuoc Minh Monastery in Duson, LA after it leaves North Texas on March 16, 2014 (See below for U.S. tour dates).
The Buddha statue was carved from a rare 18 tons boulder of translucent jade, known as “Polar Jade”, and modeled from the most famous Buddha in the world, inside the Mahabodhi Stupa in Bodha Gaya (India). The Jade Buddha for Universal Peace was first blessed in Northern Thailand before the carving process began in early 2003 and completed in December 2008.
The Jade Buddha has already been viewed by over 7 million people around the world and has traveled around 60 cities in Vietnam, Australia, USA, Canada, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, France, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Sri Lanka and India before arriving to Garland, TX this week. From Texas, the Jade Buddha was transported through Richardson, TX near Cali Saigon Mall on the morning of March 7, 2014 before arriving at its current location in Garland, TX at Tinh Xa Ngoc Nhien Buddhist Temple.
Hundreds of North Texas residents came out to view the once in a life time Buddha statue on its first couple of days arriving in Garland, TX. The City of Garland, Tinh Xa Ngoc Nhien Buddhist Temple, event organizers and Asia World Media were all presents in welcoming the Jade Buddha statue with an opening ceremony and blessing by the Buddhist monks.

“We could not believe what an honored and tremendous privileged for the City of Garland to have been chosen by the Jade Buddha of Universal Peace as the hosted city,” said Jennifer Nguyen-Chair of the City of Garland Multicultural Commission and Merna Parcon-Co-chair of the Committees for DFW Jade Buddha Exhibits. The Buddha statue will remain at the Tinh Xa Ngoc Nhien Buddhist Temple for a short time til March 16, 2014.
