Last Saturday evening, North Texas Asian American communities kick-off the 2018 Lunar New Year with the Third Annual Dallas Chinese New Year Gala at the Eisemann Center in Richardson, TX. Over 700 North Texans dressed in their best attires and braved the cold to enjoy an evening of multi, vibrant Chinese performances, including the Chinese QiPao Show, Ballet and Folk Dances, Kong-Fu Teenager demonstration and many more.
Miss Asian American Texas Pageant representatives, Vanyda Boulom (Miss Teen Asian American Texas 2018-2019) and Duyen Le (1st Runner-Up Miss Asian American Texas 2018-2019), were honored to be part of this annual celebration. “The show was amazing,” said Miss Teen Asian American Texas 2018 Vanyda Boulom. “The different cultural costumes and bright colors were wonderful.”
“Our goal is to be able to utilize this event as a medium to showcase our culture and share our beautiful heritage so that everyone may enjoy,” said Director and President of the Annual Dallas Chinese New year Celebration Gala Renee Zhang. “We are all living in the great United States, the great melting pot and we want to mix our culture into this pot along with all other beautiful international cultures.”
Many dance teachers and students from different North Texas Chinese dance studios volunteer their times and performances for the New Year Celebration Gala. Students were very excited to show-off their talents to their friends and families who attended the event.
The celebration was not just for fun and entertaining, but functioned as a showcase of Chinese diverse history and culture.
