National Fair Housing Month Luncheon in Garland, TX

The City of Garland, TX hosted the National Fair Housing Luncheon this afternoon at the Granville Arts Center. Many attendees were representatives from the City of Garland, including the newly appointed President of the Vietnamese American Cultural Center Jason Ly, Garland Multi-cultural Chair Jennifer Nguyen, and Hiep Thai Supermarket Plaza owners Julie and her mother.

Special speakers, including a welcoming speech from the Fair Housing Administrator Jose Alvarado, and a featured speaker from the Director of Texas Workforce Commission – Civil Rights Division Lowell Keig. The program also has a full panel of presenters, Director of Dallas Fair Housing Office Beverly Davis, Human Relations Administrator at Ft. Worth City Manager’s Office Angela Rush, Garland Sr. Assistant City Attorney Mark Mann, Government Affairs Manager of Greater Dallas Apartment Association Jason Simon, and the U.S. Dept. of Housing & Urban Development Thurman Miles, to share his/her perspective knowledge in his/her field.

Conversational topics focuses on the important of Fair Housing Services available for citizens and their families, like protected classes, access for handicap and disability individuals, and advocate for individual with special service animal.
