City of Dallas Celebrates Asian Heritage Month

The City of Dallas celebrate its 19th Annual Asian American Heritage Month at City Hall Flag Room. This year’s focus was on the Asian country of Nepal, a landlocked country in Southern Asia, between the Tibet autonomous region of China and India . According to the World Bank, the country of Nepal has a population of 28.51 million in 2015. In the United States (USA), there were 59,490 Nepalese American in 2010.

The celebration was made possible by the following, supporting organizations: USA-Nepal Community Outreach Network (UNCON), Indreni Cultural Association (ICA), Black Employee Support Team (BEST), Hispanic Association of City Employees with Resources (HACER) City of Dallas, LGBT Employee Association of Dallas, and Employee Relations, Diversity and Inclusion Division of Human Resources.
Approximately 100 guests and city employees joined in the celebration and were treated with a complimentary luncheon. Special guests included, City Manager T.C. Broadnax, Kimberly Nam, Mathew Ittoop, Sargent Robert Munoz and Pa Nous Pan.
