Carrollton’s 8th Annual Festival at the Switchyard shattered attendance records last Saturday, November 4th. The warm weather brought the crowds out to spend the day enjoying rides and games, quality vendors, and all day concerts including local legends The Toadies.
Approximately 40,000 people, gathered in Historic Downtown Carrollton, celebrated the Festival throughout Saturday to play games, eat their corny dogs and turkey legs, watch the kids play on the bungee trampolines, and enjoy the outdoor concert from artists such as Walk This Way (Aerosmith Tribute), Thieving Birds, King George (George Straight Tribute), Emily Wolfe, and the always exciting Emerald City Band.
The Everclear brings their sweet sounds of the ‘90s trademark melodies, rhythmic energies, and thundering guitar riffs. Rock band Local H, a two-man set up from the Midwest that blurs the lines between hard rock, punk, and indie, revved up the crowd while Everclear brought us all back to the ‘90s with hits “Wonderful,” “I Will Buy You a New Life,” and “Santa Monica.”
The Toadies didn’t disappoint with performances of crowd favorites including “Possum Kingdom,” “Tyler,” and “I Come From the Water.” Concert attendees sang along, with every syllable, as the night charged along.
Festival fans had the opportunity to win a custom-wrapped guitar signed by the opening and headlining bands. Winner and Toadies fanatic Christopher Antwiler won the guitar this year, through the City’s social media contest and walked away from the concert with a brand new signature, six-string.
“The City of Carrollton and Festival staff members would like to thank the community for coming out and showing support,” Carrollton Marketing Director Kelli Lewis said. “Our Festival offers something for everyone from music lovers to food enthusiasts, and we hope the event gave everyone a chance to visit Carrollton’s charming Historic Downtown Square with all the of the wonderful shops and restaurants that are always available.”
The City of Carrollton would like to extend its appreciation to Festival sponsors, including iHeart Radio, 97.1 The Eagle Rocks, DART, Grifols Biomat USA, Brookhaven College, DFWChild, Frost Bank, Bath and Window Expo, Dallas Morning News, Sam Pack’s Five Star Ford Carrollton, Atmos Energy, Best Life Chiropractic, DD Family Dentistry, Fairway Dental, Serrano Agency of Farmers Insurance, Fyre-Stone Baths, Music Institute at Carrollton Square, Pop’s Kettle Corn, Renewal by Andersen, Resort Vacations, Sooz Boutique, Star Local Media, Van Hyundai, Dallas Sidekicks Dancers, Reliant NRG, and Waste Management.
